2013 SLO NIGHTWRITERS 24th ANNUAL WRITING CONTEST WINNERS
SLO NightWriters, the premiere writing organization on the Central Coast, awarded the winners of its 24th annual writing contest on June 11th, 2013.
The theme or first line had to be, ‘A Perfect Storm.’
Authors were invited to interpret that theme broadly and so they did. Poetry (40 line max) and Short Story/Memoir (750 word max) entries came in from a variety of countries and states: Italy, United Kingdom, Sweden, Nova Scotia, MA, OR, MN, VA, WA, WV, KY and many from all over California.
A number of qualified first tier screeners were used - Bookstore owners, editors, award winning and published authors, creative writing teachers, and poet laureates. Screeners sent the top rated entries to two final Judges, editor and published author Paul Soderberg from Meza AZ,
and editor and published poet Pat Vivian from Oregon.

Our award night ended with a surprise:
A full scholarship for the September 20 - 21 - 2313 Central Coast Writer's Conference was drawn.
This drawing was open to all SLO NightWriter members who entered this year's contest.

The 25th Annual 2014 Contest will kick off in January of 2014 with a brand new first line and theme.
