San Luis Obispo NightWriters ("SLO NightWriters") is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization with a mission of nurturing the Central Coast writing community and providing writing education, opportunities, resources, workshops, and scholarships. Mission:
The mission of San Luis Obispo NightWriters is to advance quality writing, promote publication, and expand author recognition in a forum that nurtures a spirit of community for all its members.
Vision:SLO NightWriters is the Premier Writing Organization on the Central Coast and widely recognized for writer success and fulfillment and for providing SLO County with supportive and encouraging spirit of community for Writers. Values:
Board Protocol:The SLO NW Board of Directors is comprised of equal peers. Members conduct themselves professionally and interact to create and maintain an atmosphere of harmony and productivity.
Individual Board Members have the authority to make suggestions and recommendations regarding the work of their peers. Binding decisions are made by a vote of a simple majority of the Board.
Board members work on behalf of the board. All NW related business activities and communications represent the Board and the NightWriter organization. Such matters are always subject to review and approval by the Board. Guests are welcome at all board meetings to see how we operate or to raise a matter of concern. Guests are encouraged to become board members. While we welcome guests to attend our meetings, some of the matters are confidential so we ask that guests not attend more than two meetings unless there are exceptional circumstances. We are all on the same spectrum as creative wordsmiths. SLO NightWriters members are both published and unpublished. We welcome writers of all genres.
