Members and guests are welcome to attend. Our Tuesday, October 11, 2011 Program is described below. We hope that you'll attend.

Sherry Shahan Visits SLO NightWriters

Title: "From Fact to Fiction"

Content: We all have a story to tell. Whether you write novels, short stories, nonfiction or poetry this interactive workshop will focus on "tweaking" one's life experience into salable fiction.

Be Prepared: Bring a 1 - 2 page scene from a work in progress, fiction or nonfiction. And bring lots of questions.

Sherry's Bio: Sherry Shahan has been a full-time freelance writer for more than twenty years! She writes Children’s Picture Books, Middle Grade and Teen Novels, and her latest, Purple Daze, is one for all of us to read . . . especially if you are fond of the 1960s' era.

Sherry's Books: From her webpage, "IT'S 1965: DO YOU KNOW WHERE YOUR COUNTRY IS? PURPLE DAZE is the powerful story of an unforgettable year. It's a story about war, riots, rock 'n roll, love and loss. Set in suburban Los Angeles in 1965, six high school students share their intense experiences and feelings through journal entries, notes, interconnected free verse and traditional poetry."

Death Mountain, Frozen Stiff, Fiesta, and That’s Not How You Play Soccer, Daddy are some of Sherry's other titles.

Up close, and should be personal -- a night for SLO NightWriters with Sherry Shahan.

As well, please be aware that many of our members who have published books will have those books available at the meeting for your reading -- and purchasing -- pleasure!

1. Heading South on 101: Take San Luis Bay Drive exit (#196); turn right at stop sign, then the first left onto Ontario. It’s a quick left, because Ontario is a frontage road, so keep an eye out. As usual in California, signage isn’t as good as it could be. The PG&E Center is on the right about 1/4 mile from the turn.

2. Heading North on 101: Take San Luis Bay Drive exit (#196); turn left at the stop sign and go across the bridge over the highway. Just after bridge ends, after the southbound entrance to the 101, turn left onto Ontario, the frontage road. You’ll find PG&E on the right just a little way down the road. Huge parking lot with lots of lighting.
