SLO NIGHTWRITERS HALF-DAY WRITING WORKSHOP
SLO NightWriters is excited to present its first half-day writing workshop of the year on Saturday morning, March 16th, from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
Planned Schedule:
8 a.m. to 8:30 a.m.: Registration, networking, and continental breakfast
8:30 a.m. to 9:15 a.m.: "Words and Music: Using Poetry & Music in Fiction" (Leanne Phillips)
Leanne Phillips is an award-winning writer of fiction and creative nonfiction. Her work has appeared in journals including The Rumpus, the Los Angeles Review of Books, The Coachella Review, and the New American Studies Journal. She is the fiction editor for Kelp Journal. She is currently querying her first book, a novel told through linked short stories.
9:30 a.m. to 10:15 a.m.: “Beginning a Memoir: From Journaling to Organization to Memoir” (Brenna Humphreys)
Brenna Humphreys is the founder of Walkthrough Productions, a boutique visual capture and documentation agency. Brenna spent ten years as a Senior Writer in the Creative Department at RPA where she won multiple advertising and branded content/entertainment awards. Her fiction has been published in Southwest Missouri State University Press - Proud to Be: Writing by American Warriors.
10:30 a.m. to 11:15 a.m.: "Building an Author Platform: Your Brand, Your Website, and Social Media” (Trey Burnette)
Trey Burnette is a writer and photographer. His work has been published in journals, magazines, and newspapers including The Washington Post, Los Angeles Times, NBC News/NBC THINK, Los Angeles Review of Books, and Cheat River Review. He is a regular contributor to DAP Health. His photography has been published by The Sun and Kelp Journal.
11:30 a.m. to 12:15 p.m.: Panel Q&A on Building an Author Platform
The in-person half-day workshop will take place at Chandler Hall, UCC San Luis Obispo, 11245 Los Osos Valley Road, San Luis Obispo, CA 93405. Zoom attendance will be available—all registrants will be emailed the Zoom link prior to the workshop.

Online registration is open through March 14th. Checks must be postmarked on or before March 9th.
Attendees may register in person the day of the event. Day-of registration will be $30 for SLO NightWriters members, $55 for non-members. Please be prepared to pay by check or with exact change.
